Half Haitian and Half Chilean Jean Beausejour
Half Haitian and Half Chilean Jean Beausejour

A fleet-footed and intelligent left-winger or second striker, who was one of the pillars of World Cup 2010 qualification, coach Marcelo Bielsa appreciates his work ethic, selflessness and discipline.

Apart from starring for Chilean clubs, Universidad Catolica, Universidad de Concepcion, Cobreloa and O'Higgins, he has played overseas with Servette in Geneva, top Brazilian side Gremio, Belgium's Gent and America in Mexico, his employers for the past 18 months.

The son of a French-speaking Haitian father and Chilean mother, he predictably goes by the nickname of 'Frances'. Beausejour's father was thought to have died in the recent Haiti earthquake, but initial reports proved untrue. He can now share in the pride as his son heads off to World Cup duty with Chile.
